Devon Lane Bates

 

 

Devon’s expertise in strategic planning, research, marketing and communications has led her to serve a broad clientele, edit several books, and author articles and white papers on a wide range of topics. She has served in senior marketing, development, and management roles including: Mystic Aquarium, KMI Corporation, National Museum of American Illustration, Gordon Research Conferences, University of Rhode Island, and Brown University.  A big-picture visionary with a keen eye for detail, she has the ability to translate complex issues into effective communications and strategic initiatives. 

Devon’s consulting clients include: Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Providence College, Sidley & Austin, Turner Publishing, International Executive Service Corps, Coastal Resource Center, American Communications, Gistics for Apple Computer, Golf Realty Advisors, Kaplan, Wine Things, West Indies Management Company, Natural Energy Resources and Zhivago Marketing Partners, among others.  As a proven project manager, Devon’s practice includes leadership coaching with individuals.

Devon began her career as a community development analyst with the City of Santa Monica followed by a decade evaluating environmental impacts with the California Coastal Commission.  She brokered the nation’s first air quality offset credits between oil companies while managing the environmental review of Chevron’s Platform Gail in the Santa Barbara Channel. 

Devon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Ecology from Pitzer College of the Claremont Colleges and the Master of Science in Social Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz.  She continued her studies at Stanford University.
